Who is Vandana Singh Gautam?
A Resident. A Volunteer.
A Small-Business Owner. Ready to Serve.
Community has never been just where I live. I am Vandana Singh Gautam, a Fairview resident, mother, nonprofit founder, small-business owner, and longtime community advocate. My commitment to community service spans two countries and many years.
Before making the United States my home, I worked in India on grassroots community-development initiatives involving education, public awareness, women's empowerment, self-help groups, and social development. Those experiences taught me the importance of listening, collaboration, responsible use of resources, and creating solutions that work for real communities.
In the United States, that commitment continued closer to home. I have worked with seniors and people with special needs, served as PTA President at Niles Elementary School, volunteered with schools and youth programs, built and managed small businesses, and spent more than a decade working in legal-office administration and operations.
I am also the Founder and President of EKAM Voice Foundation, a California nonprofit focused on education, youth leadership, civic engagement, belonging, and community collaboration. Today, Fairview is home. Living here means appreciating the beauty and character of our community while recognizing the importance of wildfire preparedness, vegetation management, emergency readiness, responsible oversight, and clear communication with residents.
I am running for Director of the Fairview Fire Protection District to bring my experience in administration, organizational leadership, community engagement, and public service to the Board. I believe good public service starts with listening, asking thoughtful questions, being responsible with community resources, communicating openly, and remaining accountable to the people we serve.
Show up. Listen. Do the work. Serve the community.
My Priorities
Three Commitments for a Safer,
More Accountable Fire District.
Wildfire Readiness & Prevention
Fairview and Five Canyons sit at the edge of open hillside, and wildfire risk is not hypothetical. I will push for stronger vegetation management, defensible-space enforcement, and year-round public education so every household is prepared.

Every minute matters in a fire or medical emergency. I will work with the Fire Chief and staff to review staffing, equipment, and station coverage so our District keeps response times low as our community grows.

Residents deserve to know exactly how their fire district dollars are spent. I will support open budgeting, independent audits, and regular public reporting so this District continues to earn the community's trust.

My Priorities, In Detail
Wildfire Readiness & Prevention
Fairview and Five Canyons border open hillside and wildland, and the risk of wildfire is real. As Director, I will push the District to strengthen vegetation management programs, support defensible-space requirements that are applied consistently and fairly, and expand year-round public education, including community preparedness programs such as CERT classes, so every household knows how to prepare, evacuate, and stay safe. I will also support close coordination with neighboring fire agencies so our District is never working alone during a major incident.
Faster Emergency Response
Every minute matters in a fire or medical emergency. I will work with the Fire Chief and District staff to review response times, staffing levels, equipment readiness, and station coverage on a regular schedule, so response times stay low even as our community grows. That means asking hard questions about resources and making sure decisions are driven by data and community need.
Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
Residents deserve to know exactly how their fire district dollars are spent. I will support open, easy-to-read budgeting, independent audits, and regular public reporting on District finances and performance, and I will welcome residents to speak at every public meeting. A fire district earns the community's trust one transparent decision at a time, and I intend to make sure every dollar is accounted for.
"Serving this community has never been about recognition. It has always been about showing up. Now I am asking to show up for you as your Director, Fairview Fire Protection District." - Vandana Singh Gautam
